Why AIG Investments?

Prospective clients often say to me, “Okay, I buy the case for XYZ asset class, but why should we hire AIG Investments?” Obviously, the response varies by asset class, but I believe that there are several factors which transcend all asset class particularities. The first is our strong alignment of interests with our clients. We work with you as “Investor to Investor.” No product is offered to clients if AIG is unwilling to take a meaningful stake in the asset class. Furthermore, our management is just as demanding as our clients in achieving first rate investment performance.

A second factor is our focus on building strong, strategic partner relationships with our clients. We are confronted with many of the same problems that you face and attempt to work closely with you to meet your specific needs.

And finally, we are truly a global organization. AIG Investments’ 2,100 people operate from 46 offices worldwide and draw on AIG professionals in 130 countries and jurisdictions. These offices are highly integrated and work together constantly to share information and to make better informed decisions. Since I strongly believe that no investment is completely local anymore, this global knowledge base is essential to every asset class we manage. Our portfolio managers are better because of their global colleagues.

There are many other important factors including AIG’s global reach and access, our long historic presence in markets around the world, long track records in “alternative” asset classes and in emerging markets and others, but the three I have discussed above are those that I identify as most distinguishing.
