Our Hedge Fund Strategies, led by Robert Discolo, CFA, has a long and successful track record investing with hedge fund and other managers. We have over 20 years of investment experience and performance history and currently manage US $9.7 billion invested in hedge funds.
Our team is comprised of fully dedicated investment professionals who devote one hundred percent of their time to portfolio management, research and risk management. The team’s decision-making process is further enhanced by the partnership between our portfolio managers, analysts, Asset and Strategy Allocation Committee and Manager Selection Committee. In general the committees are responsible for selecting and reviewing asset allocation and approving new investments.
Overall, there are approximately 100 AIG Investments professionals dedicated to the success of the Hedge Fund Strategies Group’s delivery of quality returns and relative safety.
Approval Committees
The Asset and Strategy Allocation Committee and the Manager Selection Committee provide an extra layer of expertise, risk management and analysis to our investment process.
The Asset and Strategy Allocation Committee is comprised of 9 senior-level professionals who bring a wealth of experience and industry knowledge. The individuals on the Committee average 30 years of investment experience per person and are responsible for the management of nearly US $758 billion in global assets. The Manager Selection Committee is a subset of the Asset and Strategy Allocation Committee and consists of three senior-level AIG Investments hedge fund professionals, Win Neuger, Robert Thompson, and Robert Discolo.

Jacob A. Frenkel, PhD Vice Chairman American International Group, Inc. Chairman Global Economic Strategies Group
Dr. Jacob A. Frenkel is Vice Chairman of AIG, Inc., and Chairman of AIG’s Global Economic Strategies Group, and a member of AIG’s Hedge Fund Investment and Strategy Allocation Committee. He is also the Chairman and CEO of the Group of Thirty. Previously, he served as Chairman of Merrill Lynch International Inc. and as Chairman of Merrill Lynch’s Global Financial Institutions and Sovereign Advisory Groups. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Bureau of Economic Research and the Institute for International Economics. Dr. Frenkel served for two terms as the Governor of the Bank of Israel. He was Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Previously, he was the Economic Counselor and Director of Research of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the David Rockefeller Professor for International Economics at the University of Chicago. |

Win J. Neuger, CFA Chairman & Chief Executive Officer AIG Investments Executive Vice President & Chief Investment Officer American International Group, Inc.
Mr. Neuger is responsible for directing AIG Investments’ strategies on a worldwide basis. He is also an Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of AIG. Mr. Neuger joined AIG Investments in 1995, with investment management experience since 1973. Before joining AIG Investments, he was with Bankers Trust Company, where he served both as Managing Director, Fixed Income and, subsequently, Managing Director, Global Equities. Prior to joining Bankers Trust, Mr. Neuger served as Chief Investment Officer at Western Asset Management. He was also the Head of Fixed Income at Northwestern National Bank in Minnesota. Mr. Neuger received an AB from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck Graduate School of Business. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA), the CFA Institute, and the Council on Foreign Relations. |

Robert T. Thompson Senior Managing Director, Head of Alternative Investments AIG Investments, New York
Mr. Thompson is the Head of Alternative Investments. This business includes private equity, hedge fund, leveraged finance and capital recovery teams that make direct investments and loans, distressed asset purchases, and fund commitments to leading asset managers globally. Prior to joining AIG Investments in 2005, Mr. Thompson spent 25 years in private equity, leveraged finance and strategic consulting. He was a Co-Founder and Managing Member of Ferrer Freeman Thompson & Co., LLC (FFT), a private equity firm. Prior to FFT, Mr. Thompson was Managing Director and Equity Group Leader at GE Capital where he founded, organized and developed GE Capital’s private equity activities throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Previous experience includes five years each at Chemical Bank and Bain & Co. He currently serves on all investment committees for AIG Investments’ alternative investments activities. Hans K. Danielsson Senior Managing Director, Chief Investment Officer - External Clients AIG Investments, New York Vice President-Investments, American International Group, Inc.
Mr. Danielsson joined AIG Investments in 1998 and is Chief Investment Officer - External Clients. He is a member of the AIG Investments Executive Committee and also responsible for directing the investment approach for all equity investment activities worldwide. Mr. Danielsson has developed the firm’s philosophy and process for equity investing globally. In 2002 he was appointed Corporate Vice President, Investments. Prior to AIG Investments, Mr. Danielsson worked for five years with SE Banken Fonder (SEB Asset Management), as CIO of International Equities, for eight years with JP Morgan in London, and for three years for the Swedish Ministry of Finance. Mr. Danielsson received a BA from Uppsala University in Sweden and an MBA from INSEAD in France. |

Steven Guterman Senior Managing Director, Head of Global Business Development AIG Investments, New York
Mr. Guterman is responsible for AIG Investments’ global institutional asset management effort, which includes new business development, marketing, client service and RFPs. He is also a Vice President of AIG, Inc. Mr. Guterman joined AIG Investments through the acquisition of American General Investment Management (AGIM) in 2001. At AGIM, Mr. Guterman held a similar position as Executive Vice President and Head of Institutional Asset Management. Prior to joining AGIM in 1998, he was a Managing Director and Head of U.S. Fixed Income Portfolio Management with Salomon Brothers Asset Management. Mr. Guterman joined Salomon in 1983 as a research analyst where he pioneered the development of many of the firm’s proprietary quantitative models used for analyzing mortgage-backed securities (MBS) including prepayment, option-adjusted spread (OAS) and asset/liability models. Mr. Guterman began his financial career in 1980 with Chase Manhattan Bank. He began his professional career as a Principal Investigator at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Mr. Guterman earned a BS in applied mathematics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and an MBA in quantitative analysis from Long Island University. |

Harlan B. Korenvaes External Advisor Founder, HBK Fund LP.
Mr. Korenvaes brings a wealth of experience, particularly managing global multi-strategy. He is a valuable advisor on our Asset and Strategy Allocation Committee due to his expertise in a variety of hedge fund strategies. Mr. Korenvaes has long been an eminent figure in Wall Street, enjoying success developing the HBK Fund LP in 1991. From 1984 to 1991, Mr. Korenvaes worked at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he was a Managing director with responsibility for the firm’s proprietary convertible arbitrage portfolio, convertible securities sales and risk arbitrage activities. Before joining Merrill Lynch, Mr. Korenvaes co-managed the convertible securities department of A.G. Becker, a firm that was acquired by Merrill Lynch. Mr. Korenvaes received a B.S. degree in Industrial and Labor Relations in 1973 from Cornell University. |

Robert Discolo, CFA Managing Director, Head of Hedge Funds Strategies Group AIG Investments, New York
Mr. Discolo joined AIG Investments in 1999 and is a Managing Director, Alternative Investments and is the Head of the Hedge Fund Strategies Group. Mr. Discolo, who is also a member of AIG's Hedge Fund Investment and Strategy Allocation Committees, has over 20 years experience with major financial institutions in various capacities relating to investment products, primarily hedge and private equity funds. Previously, he held positions at PaineWebber Inc., Bank Julius Baer, and Merrill Lynch & Co, where his responsibilities included creating portfolios of hedge funds for private and institutional clients, development of hedge fund and private equity products, oversight of business structure and development for hedge funds and hedge fund of funds, and managing the evaluation and selection process of hedge funds for both discretionary and advisory clients. Mr. Discolo also was President of the European Warrant Fund (a NYSE listed closed-end fund) and Julius Baer International Equity Fund. Mr. Discolo received a BS in accounting from St. John's University and an MBA from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. He holds Series 7 and Series 24 licenses and he is a CFA and CAIA charterholder. Mr. Discolo is also a CPA and a member of the AICPA, CFA Institute, CAIA Association, GARP, and NY State Society of Security Analysts. |

Michael Kelly, CFA Managing Director, Head of U.S. Equities AIG Investments, New York
Mr. Kelly joined AIG Investments in 1999 as Head of U.S. Equities. He is now Global Head of Client Asset Allocation and Structured Equities responsible for the development and management of our structured equity products worldwide and expanding our capabilities for institutional pension fund advisory, and retail orientated asset allocation vehicles throughout AIG Investments with respect to our approaches to both asset allocation and manager selection. Under Mr. Kelly's leadership, the Structured Equity group has developed and manages products that span the continuum of index, enhanced index (Research Enhanced), Insured Index Plus, Dividend Roll, U.S active value and growth, merger arbitrage and multi-strategy hedge fund (MAPS). Canadian active equities are also part of the group. The Client Asset Allocation group serves as the primary adviser for AIG's worldwide defined benefit and defined contribution plans. The team manages lifestyle and asset allocation strategies, and has developed and manages principal protected strategies and Global Tactical Asset Allocation. The team has provided strategic advice for corporate, trade group, and governmental pension plans and believes it has developed differentiated approaches to Liability Driven Investment and Total Retirement Outsourcing. Mr. Kelly serves as one of the permanent members of the firm's Global Asset Allocation Committee. Prior to AIG Investments, he spent 15 years with JP Morgan Investment Management in various research and portfolio management roles. Prior to JP Morgan he spent several years in research at the economic consulting firm, Townsend-Greenspan & Co. His investment experience began in 1980. Mr. Kelly received an MBA from the Wharton Graduate School of Business and is a CFA charterholder. |

Markus Schomer, CFA Managing Director, Global Economic Strategist AIG Investments, New York
Mr. Schomer joined AIG Investments in 1996 and is currently the firm's Global Economic Strategist. He is responsible for providing economic forecasts, analysis and commentary for all AIG Investments groups. He is a member of various strategy committees and responsible for coordinating the AIG Investments interest rate and currency strategies. Mr. Schomer transferred to the U.S. in 2002 from the firm's London office, where between 1996 and 2001 he also managed various fixed income portfolios. Prior to joining AIG Investments, he was a fixed income analyst at Commerzbank in Frankfurt, Germany. Mr. Schomer holds degrees in Economics from the University of Bonn in Germany and the University of East Anglia, in the UK. He also studied at the London School of Economics and is a CFA charterholder. |
